The Mont St Michel - Extra Capacity to Caen and Roscoff
Since Mont St Michel replaced the Duc de Normandie on our Portsmouth to Caen service, we have been able to provide significantly greater capacity for our freight industry customers on what is one of our most popular routes. Mont St Michel is an £80 million giant cruise ferry capable of carrying a mile and a half of freight, plus the equivalent of five jumbo jet loads of passengers. It is the largest ever ferry to be purpose built for cross-channel service. The Duc de Normandie has now joined up with the Val de Loire and Pont-Aven to provide additional capacity on our Plymouth to Roscoff service.
These changes will enable Brittany Ferries Freight to consolidate even further its position as the number one freight operator for freight on the Western Channle. For anyone carrying freight to Central and Western France and the Iberian Peninsula, our choise of routes can offer a significant saving in mileage over the Dover Strait alternative.
