1 Are you able to carry loose packages/deck cargo?
Insurance restrictions preclude us from carrying deck cargo. However, we may be able to suggest an alternative - please call the Freight Sales Office for advice.
2 What are the opening times of your offices?
The opening times can be found here.
3 When can I deliver/collect an unaccompanied vehicle?
This varies from port to port. For precise details, please contact the relevant Freight Office - contact numbers are available in the 'Port Information' area.
4 Do the check-in times differ for freight?
Check-in for general freight is a minimum of one hour prior to advertised sailing time. In the case of abnormal loads, hazardous goods or animals, this is extended to two hours.
5 I am moving house, can I take my pets with me?
By all means, provided that all the requisite paperwork is in order. Guidance in this respect can be provided by DEFRA. www.defra.gov.uk
6 I am a regular freight driver, can I travel with my pet?
At some stage, regrettably we have to say 'no'. The requirements of the Pet Travel Scheme are incompatible with frequent travel.
7 Do you carry live animals?
We do not accept commercial livestock shipments, but we can help with the shipment of domestic animals. Our prime concern is that of welfare; journey plans are required for every shipment, and we work closely with DEFRA to ensure that standards are met.
8 I understand that parking space at ferry ports is at a premium, is this the case at your ports?
Our ports are designed for the speedy flow of both import and export traffic. As a consequence, like other ports, restrictions do apply. Our crossing times to ports with more onerous restrictions are purposely designed to take this into account.
9 I have cargo to move. Can you recommend a suitable carrier?
As we do not operate our own transport division, we are best placed to provide you with unbiased suggestions. As is so often the case, word-of-mouth recommendations prove to be the best.
10 Where can I find your Conditions of Carriage?
11 Are there restrictions on the carriage of children?
The safety and wellbeing of all on board being of paramount importance, restrictions are now in force in relation to the carriage of children on Brittany Ferries’ freight-only vessel Cotentin: Infants (under 4 years of age) are not permitted on any crossing and Children (4-15 years) are not permitted on Spanish services. Pre-advice required on Channel services.
