1 What is the maximum weight that you can carry?

The maximum theoretical weight that we can carry is 180 tonnes. However, we apply no surcharge to anything below 75 tonnes.

2 What is the maximum width that you can accept?

Our ships and services are particularly well suited to the carriage of 'out of gauge' loads; in fact we can carry anything up to 6m wide and 5m high!

3 What is the maximum height that you can accommodate?

5m high.

4 How do the procedures differ from general traffic?

By their very nature, abnormal loads require procedures that go beyond those needed for conventional cargoes. Please contact our Freight Sales Office for further details.

5 My vehicle exceeds 2.5m in width, does this incur a surcharge?

Extra wide loads do merit an appropriate surcharge and a schedule of these charges is available on request from the Freight Sales Office.

6 Can you accept hazardous cargoes?

Yes. Operating a multi-functional fleet, it is highly unlikely that we would not be able to accommodate your requirements.

7 What documentation is required?

Naturally, you will have established that your vehicle complies with statutory requirements in this regard. It is the shipper's responsibility to have provided a properly completed Dangerous Goods Note (DGN).

8 How much notice is required?

A minimum of 24 hours' notice is required at a reservations stage. We require a copy of the DGN before authority for shipment can be given.

9 Do I need to display warning labels?

Naturally. Our Freight Office staff can offer advice in this regard. Stickers are available from our Freight Offices at minimal cost.

10 Do you offer plug-in facilities?

We transport large volumes of perishable cargoes and are therefore very mindful of your needs. Plug-in facilities are freely available on all our services. Please advise our Reservations staff of your requirements.

11 I understand that you are specialists in carrying live shellfish, what makes you different?

Over the years, we have become the natural choice for the transport of this highly perishable commodity. In fact, there is in the case of Poole, a specialist facility designed for the trans-shipment of shellfish.
